ARTISTS DESCRIPTION:

Sender Flos (ITA)

Sender & Flos the collaboration between Stefano Moretti (aka Sender) and Flos the duo comprising of Stefano Castagna and Luca Formentini.

The result is a very emotionally rich, immersive, yet dynamic sound made possible by their diverse approach to music composition.

While Sender is using analog synths and drum machines, Flos are working on self made sound sources, conventional instruments and different ways of processing sounds.

A collaboration album of Sender & Flos is expected to be released at the beginning of 2015.

Sancho 003 (GR)

It’s the, now very well known and loved from the Cypriot music fans, duet of Fotis Siotas (violin, viola, synth, voice) and Kostas Pantelis (guitars). They compose and perform music based on two instruments and two loop stations synced manually, producing a very unique musical result, which has established them as pioneers in the style of synthesis using the live looping technique.

erma [ballast] (GR)

Choreography, Performance: Athanasia Kanellopoulou
Concept, music/sound composition, performance: Thimios Atzakas

Video, Set Design, light design: Alexandros Seitaridis

The piece deals with the fragmentation of the "self" and the cracks that have opened in the physical and spiritual unity of consciousness.

'Erma' means the ballast mass of hardware, rocks and other materials, to provide draft hulls of boats, offsetting the uneven parts of the vessel hull and ensuring the stability and robust navigation. The two characters of this show navigate in their own sea, through continuous emergence and diving to their personal ballast, acting and reacting to their memory.

The spiritual concerns, the urge, the longing for freedom, the desire for fulfillment, the unsatisfied soul, are transformed into sound and lead constantly in agony for a refund on the indissoluble unity.

All this, with vehicle the human body, in conjunction with the live musical performance through a kaleidoscopic sound installation.

Noizedelic Folk (GR)
solo live looping session by Stamatis Fousekis

"Noizedelic folk" is a human-technological solo project that depends on groove, melodic lines, psychedelia and digital noise. A multicellular organism with double bass, guitar and laptop as its vital organs.

Sometake (CY)

The music of Some Take is influenced by the electronic, post rock and cinematic genres. Using synthesizers, samplers, loop station and drum kit, they try to create sonic scapes using and electronic and organic sounds. The band members are Markos Ioannou (drums), Yiorgos Kleanthous (keys) and Yiorgos Constantinou (sampling).

Spen-D (GR)

Giannis Karathanos is a fourth year music student at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has performed and recorded with various bands and artists in the city, a process which lead him to the creation of project "Spen-D". At Lefkosia Loop Festival he will be presenting original compositions based on guitar loops and effect pedals. In "Spen-D", his loops mainly result from the superimposition of rhythmic and melodic patterns, whose nature as independent elements transforms when they are combined with one another.

Stylistically, his music is a mixture of the different musical influences he has had over the years.

Παναγιώτης Μηνά [pan] (CY)
::|blastic pullets|:: an album in progress

Pan has been experimenting with non-musical techniques such as chanting phrases of the zeitgeist and lying to the audience since 1995. With his avant-punk band 'spoko' he used a megaphone to recite the indications of antidepressants on live television while an out of tune / out of sync guitar riff was uttering. At a warehouse ('konteiner') he was improvise-typing and projecting it on a wall, as the heavily distorted drone sounds from 5 speakers were playing to an audience with ear plugs.

He recently produced a diy hip hop music video which he presented in Belgrade and composed music for the choreography piece "orfeas" performed at 'park in progress Nicosia'.

Pan uses an array of physical and electronic instruments such as guitars, sequencers and synthesizers to assemble samples, frequencies and singing, into 'songs'.

The Noise of Making (CY)
by Giorgos Sisamos
with Sahand & Navid Gholipour and special guest Alkis Agathocleous

A performance based on the audio-visually interesting act of constructing, using no visuals (as projections or video) and no conventional instruments, only the organic sounds produced by the actions happening on stage.

The group is looping and sampling the sounds of the two “workers” constructing a real functional object, as if they were in their workshop. With their tools as instruments they unveil the magnificent sounds hidden behind the materials and tools they use (metal, plastic or wood) covering a wide pallet of the sonar spectrum. Drill machines, sand papers, hammers, cutters and grinders, circular saw blades, stable guns, orchestrated through looping along with the birth of an object.

For the performance at Klubd they will focus on the more dance – techno side of their music

Janis Plasmatik

He has played alongside big names of the house/techno scene like Sammy Dee, Sonja Moonear, Dandy Jack, Praslea and more recently Petre Inspirescu and Rhadoo, to name a few. by Louvana Records 9 March 2022

Once in a lifetime, you’ll experience a pandemic. Once in a blue moon, you’ll have a chance to escape to a secluded island. Once on a red Thursday, as the local saying in Cyprus goes, you’ll be in a situation with a group of complete strangers, fully immersed in the sparks of creation flying forth. On A Red Thursday (9 March) is the product of just such a gathering of musicians from a multitude of backgrounds, journeys, skills and preferences. Their first single, ‘ Until We Meet Again’ , performed by Eurotoire team members Panayi and Jolien marks the beginning of sharing their experiences of stepping outside their comfort zones with the world. Following this first offering is alternative RnB number ‘ So Lonely ’ (3 February) performed by Maris Pihlap. ‘ Figures ’ (25 February) is the final single before the album’s release and sees Raveloe and Tamara van Esch punk out in a commentary on obstacles womxn face.

DOUBLE LP,  DIGITAL ALBUM - found.ee/OnARedThursday

In a songwriting programme piloted by Cypriot label, Louvana Records called Eurotoire, songwriters, producers, and session musicians from ten countries were invited to gather in Cyprus to test their limits, trust strangers, and allow their artistry to merge. Their initial week-long meeting began on a Thursday in June at Studio eleven63 in the island’s capital of Nicosia and blossomed into fifteen demos. After another two writing and recording sessions in July and September, the tracks bloomed into the Eurotoire team members’ fully-fledged album. Now they’re using On A Red Thursday to spread the word about the power of surrendering to creative instinct and collaborating with the unknown. On 13 February, the Louvana Records YouTube channel premiered a short documentary created by all eighteen artists with a single camera shared between them. Clips shot by the artists were edited together by videographer Antonis Pouliasis to depict their journey from complete strangers to collaborators as they untie forces to create an album together.
