WORKSHOPS - LECTURES - CONCERTS | JULY 23 - 28 / KATO DRYS / CYPRUS
Having found a solution for education and arts and culture at a time when such challenges have seemed impossible to overcome, we are delighted to announce that Fengaros Music Village 2020 will be taking place as scheduled this year.
We’re dedicated to providing opportunities where experienced arts professionals and emerging musicians and artists alike can come together and learn from each other. Over the past few weeks we have worked hard to adapt and unearth ways to implement the 7th edition of Fengaros Music Village and all that it stands for. We are now more excited than ever to be reunited with the entire community of educators, artists and supporters at Fengaros Music Village 2020.
Moving Forward:
Fengaros Music Village is returning to the village of Kato Drys this summer from the 23rd to the 28th of July, providing arts education through a series of music and theatre workshops. The workshops will take place daily during the morning and afternoon hours, filling the traditional Cypriot village with music and creativity. Attendees will be able to choose from nine workshops taught by industry professionals with expertise in fields ranging from jazz and popular music, to film scoring, to acting, and to non-western musical traditions. This year’s instructors will include artists from Cyprus, Greece and Germany. Participating in Fengaros Music Village will expose attendees to a new network and community of artists. Now in its seventh edition, the event has become an institution and is one of the most important meetings on the island for musicians from Cyprus and abroad.
Throughout the years, Fengaros Music Village has functioned as the birthplace of many musical and artistic collaborations and projects. In recent years, participants have gone on to accomplish several music releases, numerous festival and concert performances in Cyprus and abroad, not to mention access to a nurturing networking pool of music and arts creatives based in Cyprus.
About Fengaros Music Village:
The aim of Fengaros Music Village is to foster productive knowledge and idea exchange between artists of varied backgrounds, including workshop instructors and participants alike. Each evening free concerts are available to the public followed by jam sessions in the village’s café. Moreover, it is of utmost importance that the creation of a long-lasting, hybrid artistic community, characterised by solidarity, both in the field of collective creativity and in the production and distribution of artistic work, is cultivated.
Acknowledging the financial difficulties that musicians and artists are facing during these times, Fengaros Music Village, along with the gracious help of our longtime sponsors and collaborators, are delighted to be providing a significantly discounted participation fee from €180.00 to €95.00, plus important discounts on all agrotouristic lodges that participants can book through Fengaros Music Village. Together with our new food vendor, we have also arranged for the 5 lunch meals to be discounted from €40.00 to €36.00.
With the valuable assistance of the Community Council of Kato Drys and in line with government announcements and measures on gatherings and classrooms, Fengaros Music Village will do all that is possible to provide a healthy environment during workshops, lectures and concerts plus an open-air camping site that registered participants can enjoy.

Once in a lifetime, you’ll experience a pandemic. Once in a blue moon, you’ll have a chance to escape to a secluded island. Once on a red Thursday, as the local saying in Cyprus goes, you’ll be in a situation with a group of complete strangers, fully immersed in the sparks of creation flying forth. On A Red Thursday (9 March) is the product of just such a gathering of musicians from a multitude of backgrounds, journeys, skills and preferences. Their first single, ‘ Until We Meet Again’ , performed by Eurotoire team members Panayi and Jolien marks the beginning of sharing their experiences of stepping outside their comfort zones with the world. Following this first offering is alternative RnB number ‘ So Lonely ’ (3 February) performed by Maris Pihlap. ‘ Figures ’ (25 February) is the final single before the album’s release and sees Raveloe and Tamara van Esch punk out in a commentary on obstacles womxn face.
DOUBLE LP, DIGITAL ALBUM -

In a songwriting programme piloted by Cypriot label, Louvana Records called Eurotoire, songwriters, producers, and session musicians from ten countries were invited to gather in Cyprus to test their limits, trust strangers, and allow their artistry to merge. Their initial week-long meeting began on a Thursday in June at Studio eleven63 in the island’s capital of Nicosia and blossomed into fifteen demos. After another two writing and recording sessions in July and September, the tracks bloomed into the Eurotoire team members’ fully-fledged album. Now they’re using On A Red Thursday to spread the word about the power of surrendering to creative instinct and collaborating with the unknown. On 13 February, the Louvana Records YouTube channel premiered a short documentary created by all eighteen artists with a single camera shared between them. Clips shot by the artists were edited together by videographer Antonis Pouliasis to depict their journey from complete strangers to collaborators as they untie forces to create an album together.
